Original owner I still LOVE my Exige. Dont’t know what I would replace it with for fun on the track. Very low consumables, Toyota drivetrain… just don’t crack the fiberglass. ;)

I would recommend a Renault Megene RS Trophy 300! Under 200 in the UK, it's got rarity on its side, and I got mine for under 22k, so it definitely fits the criteria.

If you want something rare and exotic and like the MX-5 or the Lexus, look at the Healy Enigma - it uses their engines and looks like a classic. The company back story is brilliant too, as this was going to be MGF replacement and they also do the Aston Martin racing carbon fibre 😮

Also a big fan of rarity! I think my Cayman was the most common of my last 3 cars, tough to know the exact number from How Many Left as it doesn't separate the 987 and 981, but looks like about 3k of the 981S.

My current Pug has 716 on the road (plus 260 non-PS, no idea why anyone bought those!), while the GS450h is a few hundred, but in Premier spec (as it should be) there are 273 of them.

All that said, I don't actually pick cars for rarity. I just find that common cars tend to be very neutral and dull to drive - same as I don't like pop music, 20 years of studying music means I can't listen to those same damned 4 chords with autotune over the top (that could turn into a *LONG* rant so I'll stop 😄).

Common things tend to be more focused on not having flaws than being actually interesting. I prefer to overlook a few flaws and find what's exceptional. I'll take sub-par feedback from the steering and gearbox for the sake of a crazy engine and brilliant chassis.

Really what I'm saying is, a plain doner kebab is fine, but add chilli sauce and it's so much better, even if you know it means Johnny Cash is paying your rectum a visit the next morning. In case anyone reads that and doesn't understand, well I think it sounds more concerning that way so I'm not going to explain 😁
