Toxic work environments are not frequently talked about and people don't realize how harmful these environments are to a person's health. I left the food service industry because of bullying and put downs. Thank you for bringing awareness to the dev community.

Having quit my Job due to a toxic work environment I understand, I was always sad and I was getting mentally sick, It's very tough. Thanks Sean.

I worked in a toxic work environment as a graphic designer/ web designer for 5 1/2 years. Management screamed at workers in an open office, often were more concerned about who made the mistake than actually fixing the mistake itself, people complained and we're negative non stop, it was horrible. I think this happens in any industry unfortunately. Part of the reason I started learning web development was bc this job made me not want to be a designer anymore. It really sucks there are companies out there like this.

The only complete solution is to start your business. Toxic co-workers are at every company in every industry. This will not change. You can only change yourself. I use these toxic people to fuel my desire and set goals to get back into business for myself. Else, if I were content at this toxic horrible company, I might never get back to having my own business again. Thank you for this video. Great info.

I had two Help Desk jobs that was extremely toxic. Truth be told, because of these toxic work environments in Help Desk kinda was the icing on the cake on why I changed gears towards Web Development. It’s wasn’t at all an easy transition, but man it’s was so worth it in my situation.

3 options when in a toxic environment:
1. Let it get you down and develop stress
2. Use it as inspiration to better yourself
3. Go off on the toxicity and start slapping people (like that YT video.)

I'd go for # 3

I’m glad you talked about this with your audience. After working with over 20 companies it seems elitism is common in engineering. I talk about this a lot on my channel.

Thanks for sharing some good tips for separating your identity from others. It’s easier said than done but definitely worth pursuing! 👍

I was always taught that people are going to talk about you whether you're doing good or bad. I always remember that when dealing with people. One thing people forget is that in order for someone to so something to you, you must allow it. As far a toxic people/environments, I don't allow those things in my life.

My first dev job was toxic. I left after a year. From here on I will never put up with crap like that.

Chris, thank you for the encouragement and wonderful advice. I am an older newbie and I have read so very many negative things from developers. I don't understand what people gain from this kind of behavior. People really need to be more positive and helpful in all aspects of life...period. That's why you are one of my favorite people to watch on YouTube.

I'm in an environment where I'm not 100% motivated to continue the job but I can't do anything and keeping myself on to continue that job and after work I keep on learning the basics of HTML and CSS so that one day I can become a web developer. Your videos Chris helps me a lot to motivate myself what should I do on this road to become a web developer. Thanks Chris.

I actually had an episode some weeks ago because of that I think I should run away from where I work right now. It's disgusting.

Hi chris sean i have a question. IM trying to upload my first website. and im getting error 404 not found.
i already paid host (banahosting) and im using a FTP (winSCP) and i placed my html and css on the public html folder. I dont know why my files are not transfering and updating. My hosting is paid and up. and ftp using port 21.
What procedure do you use to upload a website? Can you please tell me step by step? Do i need to check my firewall or some other configuration? Does it have to do with the index.html file?
