Had the pleasure of serving with then Captain and now Admiral Paparo twice in my naval career. The man doesn't change for the cameras. This is him. Direct, confident (but never arrogant) and loyal to the United States.

“It’s not my hope it’s my duty”. No stronger words have been spoken. I admire his intensity and directness.

"If I don't want to be hit, there's something I can do about it" the way he says it is so reassuring

“I don’t really talk in depth about submarine capabilities...it’s the silent service”
That gave me goosebumps 😎

I like how admiral answers questions, briefly and spot on. Politicians need to learn from military

You can always tell when they're interviewing a military person or a politician. The military person answers "Yes" or "No" and then explains why, while the politician spends 5 minutes talking without ever answering the question!

The idea that we are moving closer to WW3 and nobody seems concerned is just flat out insane.

Respect to the admiral for holding his tongue when talking about submarines. Some cards shouldn’t be shown

My uncle was born in 58. He served on the Nimitz. Straight out of high school. That's been a while considering that he's 65 this year

Single word answers. Yes, No, plausible, optimistic, pessimistic. I appreciate the Admiral's directness and he communicates a sense of strategic clarity on the mission of his very important command.

Hey! Nim sailor here, thanks for asking the questions we think about. It's a big relief and shows a lot of respect how much the interviewer educated themselves on our issues. Go Navy!

Ok this makes me feel ALOT better knowing there is at least ONE man in a U.S. position of leadership that seems like they have a head on their damn shoulders.

As a Chinese, I have respect to people from both nations. The interview was truly remarkable, and the admiral's dedication to serving his country is commendable. I appreciate the admiral's confidence, humility, and composure. He doesn't display any hostility, yet manages to convey his strength to his opponent. Such qualities make for an exemplary military personnel from any country. I hope that our two nations can eventaully reach a point to promote peace and friendship, for the betterment of both❤
