Watch as this elderly man prepares a delicious snack using a time-honored technique. With a wooden tool, he stirs rice in heated sand, creating a unique texture and flavor as the rice puffs up and turns golden brown. The result? A tasty, toasted treat loved in some parts of Asia!

Puffed rice. In China the rice is steamed first then dried. After its puffed the sand is sifted out. Then a syrup is made, the puffed rice & roasted peanuts are added. The mixture is pressed into a pan & cut into rectangles while still warm.

Puffed rice, also known as "murmura" or "pori" in India 🇮🇳 is a staple offering in many Indian temples and gurudwara. Some times sugar sprinkle on puffed rice 😋

I love to watch people do old methods of cooking and making things. We don't have that much anymore, young people don't want to know these things.

Puffed rice is called AMPAW in the Philippines. Our version is coated with caramelised sugar. This snack reminds me of my childhood. 💖

I find it kind of interesting and hopeful that I see so many different cultures eating and enjoying the same foods. I wish we could get along just as well with other subjects. It's such a shame that the very few bad people ruin it for the rest of us

I like how it says “An elderly man begins…” as if an elderly man is required to correctly perform the process 😂

You teeth will hate this, but your dentist's back pocket will adore you! Any leftover sand will sandpaper the shit outta your molars.
