7 Reasons You SHOULD NOT Get A Male German Shepherd

We feed raw 25% OFF

If you're considering getting a male German Shepherd, it's important to be aware of the potential downsides. In this video, we'll go over 7 cons of owning a male German Shepherd.

Firstly, male German Shepherds can be prone to aggressive behavior. This is especially true if they're not properly trained and socialized from a young age. This can pose a safety risk for both the dog and the people around them.

Secondly, male German Shepherds can be quite dominant and territorial. They may become aggressive towards other dogs or people who they perceive as a threat to their territory or family.

Thirdly, male German Shepherds can be quite stubborn and difficult to train. They have a strong will and need a firm and consistent hand when it comes to training.

Fourthly, male German Shepherds can be prone to health issues such as hip dysplasia and other joint problems. This can be costly to treat and may impact the dog's quality of life.

Fifthly, male German Shepherds require a lot of exercise and mental stimulation to keep them healthy and happy. This means you'll need to be prepared to spend a lot of time exercising and playing with your dog.

Sixthly, male German Shepherds can be quite vocal, especially when they're bored or anxious. This can be frustrating for neighbors and may lead to complaints.

Lastly, male German Shepherds can be quite protective of their owners and family. While this can be a positive trait, it can also lead to aggression towards strangers or visitors to your home.

Overall, while male German Shepherds can make wonderful pets, it's important to be aware of these potential downsides before making the decision to bring one into your home.

If you put in the work and know what you are getting into before you get one, it isn't gonna be a problem. Mindset is everything. It is just a dog. Be the leader it needs or don't get dogs at all. How badly do you want one? How are you gonna modify your lifestyle to include the breed? What are you willing to sacrifce and compromise? If you can't afford it, don't. If it is easy for you then get one. You'll love the quality of life you give to each other.

I had 2 male and 2 female GSD's plus 2 mixed GSD's. There was no difference between them. It's the owners and the training each dog gets from the very first day that make the dogs. I loved my boys so very much. They were gentle giants. We've been feeding raw meat diet for twelve years now. I wish I had done it from the very first dog we got. I will never feed kibble again.

❗ all that boils down to you the owner, NOT THE DOG❗

Not only do I have a male GSD, but I have 2. My boys are well mannered, trained protection assets, lovable members of the family and very aware. Trained by a former navy EOD tech and myself, my boys are huge, scary looking dorks. Play, play, play but when it's time for business.... let's just say I'm glad to be the leader of their pack and not on the business end of those fangs. I HIGHLY recommend GSD's for any family or individual. Truth be told now...they always look forward to watching "On Patrol Live" with me on Friday and Saturday nights. They howl in approval at their K9 "frens" on TV.

now do 7 reasons why not a female german shepherd. I've had both for 30 years. I've been trained by the country's top handler. All dogs have pro's and cons, don't turn people off.

Im with my 6th GSD a 7 month male pup. The ONLY problem is they only live 10 to 12 years. I've loved all of them and still miss each ones personality

I agree with the first four reasons. But the last three reasons are common to both males and females equally.

My female GS was more aggressive than my male, BUT I bought her at a breeding for police dogs. He was SO gentle nobody believed, friends laughed, that he would hurt anyone. Someone whom I knew walked up behind me in the woods and startled all of He did not hear them bc of a motor running. A hundred pounds flew through the air for the guy’s throat and we knocked him to the ground like a football tackle 3 times before we could grab him. Gentle enough kids climbed all over him and loved people. Be sure you have energy before getting a male or female GS! GSs are the best breed I have had from having had many. And SO smart.

My male Husky- German Shepherd mix is awesome!! I think it’s far more about how they are raised, not about the sex of the dog.

Growing up I had a white male Shepherd named bear, he was the sweetest huggable ball of fluff I ever had, his weakness was eucalyptus because he was allergic to them and would sneeze nonstop from the scent of them.

Our male shepherd doesn’t mark at all, and is also sooo submissive to our female shepherd lol! The only aggression he has is towards other dogs… but he learned that behavior from our female. Otherwise, he is the worlds biggest love bug! He doesn’t know personal space ❤️ Our guy is energetic, loves to hike, etc….. but doesn’t honestly doesn’t require stimulation…. He thoroughly enjoys being a house dog more than an outside dog haha. He loves to chill and snuggle, or watch his human sisters play 😊 He is MASSIVE (biggest shepherd I’ve ever seen) and we weren’t expecting that lol… so yes, he sheds a TON! His loyalty is like no other. & he loves to love and be loved. I’ll never own another type of dog! We love our male and female shepherds!

I don’t buy the raw diet at all. I’ve fed my rotties and black purebred shepherd blue Buffalo and before that Iams and had no problems health wise except my shepherd had displacia but lived 15 years. I do believe in feeding the better dog foods with all the necessary nutrients
