It's hard to find good quality parts these days. Everything is made in China, well almost everything.

Don't go with Chinese shocks and struts if you have a Toyota or a Honda. You won't be happy with the ride. Chinese are ok for American vehicles, but Japanese OEM shocks and struts are far superior in quality.

It's extremely difficult to avoid Chinese parts; buy name brand and it's made in China... very few parts are not made in China.

Recently a pair of EBAY cellphone chargers 25W for my galaxy S24 lasted 2 seconds, I saw the smoke come out of the brick

One of my friends had a fuel pump replaced in his wife’s car. Less than 6 months later, it broke down. Installed a factory fuel pump, like it should have been in the first place, no more problems.

Plus the Auto Part Stores are horrible when it comes to selling you defective parts... I had to return the ball joints four times... all were defective and shipped to my local store from other locations nearby.. horrible!

Well
The real story stands like this in my opinion when comes to Made in China:
Those OEM MADE IN CHINA for factory warranty etc
Those oe made in china for aftermarket with warranty from your auto parts stores.
But as was stated here…some parts are made ok as long you know what those parts very well and customer doesn’t care about it that much and as long the mechanic makes a good income from installing same parts over and over again.
Since I repair just about everything in my vehicles and I don’t like to work for same repair over and over again, OEM in many of my cases is my way to go….
I installed a better manifold built in with catalytic converter..the converter is fine but the manifold cracked in 2, making the noise of a junk vehicle within 3 years…the OEM lasted me 17 years from new.
If you plan to sell the vehicle, a cheap part might be the way to go…but not for those planning to keep their vehicles for life

Avoid buying American cars unless it’s Lincoln’s, some Buicks or Cadillacs. I’d also say Tesla but Americans don’t want Tesla either.

I only buy bearings made in the USA. Wasted too much time with Chinese bearings in the past.

Every Chinese electronic auto part that I have bought either didn’t work right out of the box or failed soon after installing. The cheap timing belt sets installed 2 on 2 different Camrys in one week both failed 2 weeks later belts broke no engine damage both were 1999s just a lot of labor and cost. Installed full set of struts and springs they are stiff as well you know. Chinese tires I only got 15, 000 miles out of them, you get what you pay for and with Chinese parts that ain’t much.

My online ignitor lasted 5 years while the mechanic's first one lasted less than a week. His 2nd one is now in 3 years.

Sad thing is we have "refurbished" parts for sale as well. Do they list where the parts used to refurbish came from? I had to get 3 different altenators from autozone for my old junker mustang before getting one that worked. Guess they do not test the refurbished units before sending them out for sale.

I once replaced both front hubs on my Jeep with Chynashit. First turn in the lot had them trying to slide off - the “pressed” bearings were not even a slip fit. Junk.

And now they want to bring the China Cars here. Even the Chinese people I have worked with say made in China is junk. I worked for an induction bending business and all the 24 inch made in China Pipe failed mag particle testing after it was bent and the customer supplied it and had to replace with none made in China pipe.
