Why is the GEICO Gecko in Portal?

GEICO Portal is real. There's a new GEICO Portal 2 commercial that features the gecko using the portal device from the video games, taking place right in Aperture Labs. What's going on? How did this even happen? Is it a hint that Valve is working on more Portal content in the future?

Valve can't count to three, so it only made sense that Portal 2 was the last we've seen of the franchise (aside from the Portal 2 expansion of LEGO Dimensions). After more than a decade, the GEICO Gecko has given the franchise the spotlight once again in the 2022 Portal commercial. There are... many questions.

See now I'm having an existential crisis over how big the Geico Gecko is.
That's a full sized portal gun so this gecko is nearly 6 feet tall.

This is video actually a perfect explanation of what geico does and how this probably doesn't mean that its a hint at a new portal game. Funny enough the husband of Ellen McClain(the voice actor of glados) commented saying that its her, the way he wrote it makes me think they had her record the voice lines. She probably sounds off due to age or voice effect.

At first, I was afraid this was an ad in the actual game itself, which would mean that companies had taken the next step to becoming much more aggressive and in-your-face with their ads.

This video and the comments both ask where Portal 3 is, and I'm shocked nobody can put this together themselves. The series ended. Portal 2 had the grand conclusion with tons of character development and such. That's it. The story is over.
