This ted talk kinda gives off "I just visited a country for a week and now I am an expert in their culture" vibes

Positive non sexual seduction is just... charisma

She keeps saying "seduction" when what she means is manipulation, not to mention the fact that this whole thing is so dangerous. We shouldn't be telling people that "No means maybe" and "Women find persistence sexy" when this is straight-up encouraging sexual harassment or worse. Women don't find being badgered by men "sexy, " it's annoying and scary, and what she's saying is the exact kind of shit that makes men feel entitled to reciprocation

alternate title: woman who looks like a younger version of my middle school principal thinks she knows everything ever about cuba and talks about how attractive sexual harassment/assault is for way too many minutes

she really wrote "we need to start teaching seduction at a young age" and just did not see a problem

The amount of times this woman used the term “seduction” to describe children and their behavior made me SO uncomfortable.

Honestly, this girl is very gorgeous so I’m lead to believe people just hit on her all the time and she just thought “damn I must be good at flirting or something” and that’s her entire career origin lmao

Love the fact that she’s hypersexualizing Cubans and speaking of her trips to that country as if she were observing animals way to dehumanize an entire country, chica❤️

When I went to Cuba, there were no grinding pool kids and tons of advertising everywhere. There were overly flirtatious folks that always hit up tourists, though. They’re called jinetero/as. Basically, unofficial tour guides. The word “jinetero” translates to jockey (like horse jockey) while there meaning prostitute, but at the same tome doesn’t literally mean it in this sense. Well, it can, but doesn’t have to.
They’ll come talk, flirt, offer to show you a good place for dinner or a nice club. They are genuine and can be a great way to see parts of Cuba you normally wouldn’t. However, they do it knowing you will pay them, buy food for them, and they will also be paid a percentage for bringing you to an establishment.
I think this lady keeps going to Cuba thinking guys are trying to pecker her and she isn’t realizing she’s just an easy mark.

As a Latin American woman, these are the people that make my culture a fad, make my appearance a Halloween costume- not to mention a costume that is often found in the “Sexy” section, Perceptions like this strip me of dignity and the ability to have an identity separate from being a sexual fantasy. Cuba is full of people with stories and an entire range of personality like any other place in the world. To say an entire people is able to be observed like in a zoo, means you are not at all aware of the enormity and nuance in cultures that are not your own. It pains me to see this kind of thing have a platform.

Her real Ted Talk should be "How to talk for long periods of time without actually saying anything" because I have no idea what I was supposed to learn from that

As a latin american, the way she talks about Cuba as some distant land where everyone seduces everyone just... hurts

"Men keep seducing them even if said no multiple times"

I don't think she even knows what seduction means in the first place. If they say no, you didn't seduce anyone, that's just harassing people.
