I'm Jim in East TN just below Knoxville. Today I'm starting treatment for Lymphedema at MEND in Blount Memorial Hospital. Love this group because they are all Nurse Practioner's of all ages. Now I found you on what I do all day now that I'm retired. Don't want to get on your nerves but what you are saying makes good sense. Thanks for doing what you are. With this swelling etc, it is new to a lot and finding help on it is a chore.

Thank you so much. I wish I could've found someone like you 40 years ago. My swelling started in one leg when 20.... I saw several specialists but they never offered soultions. I am now 59 and can finally see my ankles when following your instructions. God bless and thanks again.

I have to say it’s very comforting to find your video. I was diagnosed the lipedema around 11 months ago. It has been horrible and painful! I have been hospitalized twice with cellulitis since this started. This all started because I gained a lot of weight with the pandemic. I have been trying to lose weight, which seems to be very difficult and I’m going to medical weight loss doctor soon, I’m actually still waiting for my first appointment with a specialist and have been waiting for the last four months. I feel discouraged and depressed. I just want my weeping wounds to go away. It opened up around four months ago and has not gotten better just gotten worse, there is no information about weeping wounds. All I have found is that you need to compress your legs and keep them clean which I do that anyways, but it doesn’t seem to do anything for the wounds only thing I have found that, but is a horrible process to dry out your legs. Before I knew about wrapping and compression, the hospital told me to do nothing - keep them clean but do not get them wet and try to just let them dry out and it took three months but I did that and the wounds healed for the first time they healed.
Since then my wounds are back since swelling is a problem. I have wounds around my whole right leg and a little bit on my left leg and I’ve had them for a few months and they won’t go away, and I am so done and so tired of this, I just want to heal not to mention that I feel that Doctor don’t care enough to do anything for this disorder and since waiting four months for an appointment!😔😔😔😮 I was going to a Wound specialist for these weeping wounds that will not heal and I thought the whole point of going to wound specialist so they could help them heal and make them go away, the doctor would keep trying to pull the scabs off so it would not heal. Which I got really upset about because if they’re trying to scab up, that means that they’re trying to heal which they should be trying to help that right. Just recently, I noticed that I was having little wounds with pus popping up on my leg. I told the doctor at the wound clinic that it must be an infection and then I probably needed antibiotics. He said that there was nothing wrong with my leg and just ignore it. I found that to be very strange, but I listen to him for two weeks. then one morning I woke up and they had moved down my thigh and was spreading. I felt like I couldn’t wait any longer and I went to my doctor and found out that I had a staff infection. The doctor was shocked that the wound doctor did not do anything for this right away and that two weeks ago when it first popped up instead of telling me to ignore it he should’ve told me to go get antibiotics. I have totally lost trust in Doctors!! I feel like I don’t know how to take care of this the right way. The lack of help videos and informational videos for this condition is horrible. I pray every day that I’m not gonna get an infection. I have been washing my legs every day with soap, and then wrapping them up, the wounds are not getting any better. They’re not healing. Never mind the bandages are extremely expensive and I can hardly afford them. I don’t know what to do at this point. I feel extremely discouraged and depressed. Not to mention. This is a very painful disorder! I really wish there was more information out there that you could trust. I feel very lost about this.

Thank you, I developed the disease after my breast removal operation due to breast cancer. I have then tried to find doctors to help me, but they all have a vague idea of the condition. I found a clinic in my city with physical therapists who treat the condition and I go there when I need help. Your videos are a blessing.

Thanks Kelly. I wasn’t aware of the heat factor before seeing today’s video. I’m going to watch for this phenomenon from now on.

I get confused because the more walk (for exercise) or bike ride, the more inflamed my leg seems to get. I will go along fine for a few months and then bam! The leg will swell and the walking and bike riding makes it swell and hurt. It's so hard to know what to do.

For me doing dishes, wiping down counters, and sweeping cause my lymphedema to flare up. It’s so frustrating for me.

If you are going to fly, be sure to get a compression garment made for you. I had breast cancer with lymph nodes removed and later a double mastectomy. I never fly without my hand and sleeve compression garments on. Hope this tip helps in some small way!

I was just diagnosed with lymphedema and thank god for you, you really gave me some good pointers and I went down a size in my compression stockings in three weeks I thought I would never see
My ankles and feet again. I have to admit it is a
Lot of maintenance and sometimes I wanted to give up.
I have a question, is lymphedema cancer?

Just a warning. I have primary lymphedema and exercise and activity is the WORST thing for it, apart from sitting on a chair/toilet for a long time. Sitting down on a bed with the leg elevated is what helps me personally the most. When I’m super sick with the flu and not moving from bed the fluid clears up entirely

I have had bouts of malabsorption and malnutrition secondary to radiation of my stomach and upper intestines. Although I have not noticed this as a primary cause of a flare-up in me (heat & humidity remain my #1), I have read where these nutritional conditions can cause lymphedema flare-ups in others, as though they don't have enough to worry about already!

I developed lymphedema 29 yrs ago when I hit the top of my left foot on the bottom of my storm door. When I hit my foot a small amount of fluid came out no blood I have suffered with swollen legs ever since with pain in my groin area on my left side sometimes I’m tired and aching just feeling like I don’t want to do anything. I recently. got a vibration plate I like the plate because I can sit or stand on my vibration plate and it seems to help my legs feel better.

A Yellow jacket or wasp sting!!
I have developed lymphedema due to a severe ankle break years ago. It shows in my right toes, feet and ankle and calf. I wear otc support stockings.
This summer I was stung at my elbow and a month later on my inner right thigh. I hadn’t had an insect sting for years. My arm swelled to almost twice it’s size down to my wrist and up to my armpit and burned and itched. I took Benadryl which did not really help. . Lymphedema did not even occur to me since I had/have only been having it in my right leg.
A month later the inner thigh yellow jacket sting caused an even more extreme reaction. The swelling, burning, itching moved down my leg past my knee and up to my groin. The dr ordered a 6 day course of prednisone by mouth. The prednisone decreased the redness and itching, but not the swelling. But what really helped was following and doing what Kelly demonstrates on her leg lymphedema self massage drainage videos. I could actually feel the pockets of fluid behind my knee and at my groin. I could see the extra swelling in My toes, top of my foot, and my ankle. ❤
BTW I learned of lymphedema by randomly finding Kelly on YouTube and watching her videos. My pcp has never suggested / diagnosed this or offered treatment of any kind and may not even know that lymphedema is truly a thing!
