Shoots, sprouts, microgreens, salad greens, grasses, activated nuts it’s a confusing business! But I have Doug Evans on the podcast today, the sprout man himself, to talk us through how powerful and easy sprouting your own can be!

Doug Evans is an early pioneer in the natural food industry. In 2002 he co-founded Organic Avenue, one of the first exclusively plant-based retail chains in the country. Doug has quite the idyllic lifestyle in the Mojave Desert on a permaculture hot springs oasis. Revolutionising gardening and growing your own food right in your kitchen in an affordable and accessible way is going to be a gamechanger for a lot of you and if you haven’t sprouted, and you have my first cookbook, I actually talk about sprouting and how to sprout broccoli and mung beans! But for the definitive guide, do check out Doug’s “The Sprout Book” to learn how to grow and eat the most nutritious food on the planet.

Dude you changed my life. I've started sprouting with a 6 jar setup and keep my large Tupperware container full. I eat about 5 cups a day

Fenugreek sprouts are worth trying. And they are easy snd quick, as long as you get good seeds. See Jerry Brainum and others on the benefits of fenugreek.

Also, black beluga lentils are exceptionally nutritious, and good ones sprout easily and vigorously.

Wonderful information...I started sprouting broccoli, alfalfa, Red Clover, Lentils, Red Radish, Kholrabi....I love the fact I can grow my own food in mid-winter w/o having access to my garden. I am so motivated by this you, thank

I started sprouting as food for my parrot. I would taste test to make sure I wasn’t feeding him something that had gone bad in case my nose had failed me - and now I love them for myself hahaha

Just started my first batch of mustard seeds from my Indian spices cupboard. Looking at seeds and legumes in a whole new way. Doug is amazing as an educator. Very grateful to you both. Next I am targeting my 60+ friends with knee aches and painful joints.

Alfalfa is my favourite sprouting seed. I recently tried to grow Kale but the smell was really awful however, after listening to this podcast, I will scatter a few seeds amongst the Alfalfa in future.

Love the interview. Friendly suggestion: when you hold up a book don't just wave it for 1/2 a second. Hold the book in front of the camera so the viewer can clearly see it. Thank you.

Maybe we could follow Charity Water around and as soon as the village has water, teach them to sprout. Abundance took over your mind once you had food that was abundant. Jars, screen tops, water, organic non gmo seeds and a cleanser is all that is needed. Super nutrition. Hunger resolved. Plus CW has been around since 2006, so that’s a lot of places with water now so retracing CW steps might increase the speed at eliminating hunger and death from malnutrition. Just a thought.
