This race was more like it was back I'm the day. Both cars seemed to be unmodified, and actually stock. The times were about what they got back in the 60's. Fantastic race from two beautiful muscle cars. Thanks again for letting us view these on YouTube.

Both cars are amazing automobiles. Beauty and raw power at its finest.

i'm just glad their still out there and racing- nothing like the sound and rumble of an American muscle car.

This race was more like back in the day than most, when I ran in the 70's a high 13 was a fast street car and no stock car ran a mid 12, great race.

They both looked to be running 100, while just sitting there. Works of art, both !

I grew up in the 60's and this is how I remember. No 1000 horsepower twin turbos running 9 second et's...just big V8s fresh off the showroom floor.

Now that’s a real street race with real street cars. I’m sick of watching breathed-on 12.85 times. For a taste of the ‘60’s, watch the above over and over.

My dad raced a gtx in the late sixty' sand he ran 12's but he had slicks and a big rear end plus his was a 6 barrel 440. He had two cases full of throphy's and time slips he won with the car. His fastest time ever was 11.11 126mph.

That is the exact time I got with my 1995 Trans Am convert on the 1/4. Love Pontiac's!

The 66gto is bulletproof, and my buddies will acknowledge.

American iron, doing what it was designed to do, impress, no matter what design you run, be glad somebody has another design to race you with or it would have been boring, I like the chase

That's my baby - GTO. I had one exactly like it. Mine was a 389 Tri-Power w/4 spd and 3.23. Best I ever ran was 102 MPH. I don't remember ET's -- too long ago.

Just for the record, the manufactures weight specs for each vehicle, based on the body style, engine/trans combination is as follows: the Plymouth GTX is 3470 lbs and the Pontiac GTO is 3465 lbs.

GTO time came on the display "BEFORE" the GTX time was displayed with the win light ! GTO had a better time & speed than the GTX "BUT", GTX beat the GTO out of the hole at the tree, thus, the slower car won the race !! Loving them both ! Gotta give that GOAT driver respect for coming on strong at the big end & shifting that 4-speed like a PRO !

I used to own a 1971 Z28 with the European style Camero. It was British Racing green with white stripes. 350 cu with 330hp solid lifter cam, aluminum intake, with a holly 780 carburetor. It was fast, turn 12:73, 107mph in the quarter mile at Milan Dragway. It had the Muncie 4 speed with the Hurst Shifter. It was a beast. Totally unassuming. I worked for the Bennet Bros who ran an A Fueler Corvette, all fiberglass, a “funny” car they called them then. They dyno tuned it the day before. These guys told me to rev it to 6, 000 Rpm and side step the it launched me like a rocket coming out of the hole a little sideways, but not enough to loose control. I stayed on it and never yielded.... grabbed second gear, and got a little kick but by then, I was already going 85 miles per hour. Third gear, now 98 miles per hour and crossed the finish line at 107 mph. Had the 355 gear from the factory. Wish I would have never sold that car. Same with my SS chevelle, 1966, 396/375 monster, hard to keep this one on the road, light and like riding a bronco, she would jump like a banshee. Great memories of a day gone by.
