I bought this as a non running project. This was the test drive after getting it running and setting timing.

My dad had one when I was a kid. All I remember is flopping about then staring at the sky while he hammered on it. 😆👍

I vividly remember 44 years ago driving my Dad's '70 Plymouth Superbird with the same shifter. Hang on to this car Man! Congrats.

Driving anything with a V8 is a different experience. Its power you can actually feel, and hear. First time I drove a Mustang GT, I was in love.

I test drove a Challenger R/T clone back in the 80s with the Pistol Grip shifter.
That's when I became a man.

I was pushed back in my recliner, just watching this video! Remembered my high school days 68 - 71 !!! Great time to be alive, fast cars, and great music to cruise with !!!!

Back in '72 I had a 69 Z/28 and my Buddy had a 69 Charger with the 426 Hemi. We raced one day and he blew me away by 2nd gear. Fastest car I ever rode in.

Even the whole dashboard of the Charger looks too badass. Spartanese, simple and big like from truck, but there's something elegant in it as well. Probably the manliest car ever made.

Thanks guys. Yes, people keep mentioning the shifter. I'm aware it was first used in 70. The 5 speed trans, hemi, 4 wheel disc brakes and also the EFI I'm installing are not original either.

To have a 69 charger is a blessing. To have the 4 speed pistol grip and a hemi in one, is nothing short of a miracle

When I was a kid one of our neighbors had a brand new black '69 Charger. It was so impressive and the paint looked like it was deep black plexiglass in the sun. One day I heard him coming up the street. He stopped at the stop sign, made a left turn and hammered the throttle. He smoked the tires for what seemed like forever and broke them loose in all 4 gears. About a week later he did the same thing. Except this time he blew the positraction rear into pieces. Oops. Way too much power for that rearend. A lightning bolt moment from well over 50 years ago.

That HURST shifter is so bad ass. Great decision in choosing that shifter for this Mopar.

When cars where awesome. I got a 76 Corvette with a forged bottom end solid roller 388 stroker makes around 500HP and it’s fun like this. 10.90’s in the 1/4. 0:33 When cars didn’t have a babysitter computer just a cable and your right foot, if you wanted to wreck it, it would let you. 😂😂

He spun all the way through 2nd gear. Spinning ain't winning, but it sure is badass when you can do a burnout at 40+mph.

Nothing compares to that feeling when you can feel your car start to twist because of the power
