Pedestrian Injured by Scooter | California Personal Injury Lawyers

So what happens if you're just walking down the street or on the sidewalk and you get hit by somebody on a scooter? Well, you want to find out who that person is and get their information right away, but you may have a claim against them. The tough thing is, I've actually had this before, where somebody was walking down the street and they got hit by somebody on one of the e-scooters the little Bird scooters or whatever, and of course, Bird doesn't want to take any responsibility for it. The person who rented the scooter has to sign away their rights and say that they're responsible for any damages that they cause. Then of course, anyone could ride those, you don't even have to have any insurance. So it turns out this guy didn't have any insurance either.

But there are times when somebody may be riding one of these scooters, they may hurt you, and they may have their own type of coverage that would kick in. It's really a tough issue with these e-scooters because they're probably excluded from a lot of liability. So let's say you have a homeowner's insurance policy and you're riding a bike and you hurt someone, it'll be covered by your homeowners insurance, but if you're on a motorized vehicle, you're excluded. So this is a gray area and you'd probably want to get a consultation from an attorney who deals with scooter injuries and pedestrian accidents.
