Man dies more than a week after being hit by woman riding e-scooter in Koreatown

Nicole Comstock reports from Koreatown, where a 65-year-old man was hit by a woman riding an e-scooter in early September. The crash left him with severe head injuries that led doctors to pronounce him brain dead this week while police are still searching for the rider.

You are not supposed to drive on the sidewalk with an electric scooter. Sidewalks are meant for people to walk on, not a 200lb beast riding 15-20 mph down the sidewalk.

So, she's riding like an absolute menace, hits an older man, sees the blood, hears his wife's cries and takes off. What an absolute piece of garbage. That goes for the guy who was with her, as well. That poor family deserves justice.

The e-scooters are very quiet and can go quite fast. A pedestrian would have no idea when someone on an e-scooter is approaching, especially from the side or back. You can see that woman was going quite fast on the sidewalk.

It's 100% her fault. It is manslaughter. You can't ride an escooter on the sidewalk.
She was riding with one hand so couldn't brake in time with that hand.
If you must ride on the side walk, you should ride at walking speed.

That's terrible. No one should be on sidewalk with those scooters. Pedestrians ALWAYS have right of way.

It has a motor, it moves faster than a mobility scooter or wheelchair, it belongs on the road like a bike or motorbike and not on footpath. Footpath is for foot traffic.
