Get to know the story of David Walker, an abolitionist whose antislavery pamphlet made him an enemy of the US government.

--

In 1830, David Walker sewed a pamphlet into the lining of a coat. The volume was thin enough to be hidden, but its content was far from insubstantial. At the time, many members of the US government considered this pamphlet to be one of the most dangerous documents in American history. But what was this incendiary document? And who exactly was the man who wrote it? Keenan Norris investigates.

Lesson by Keenan Norris, directed by Tomás Pichardo-Espaillat.

I clicked on this video thinking this man was a horrible person who did horrible things. But I now know that he was one of the most moral and just people ever and his actions ultimately helped millions. He is an ICON and the fact that this is the first time I heard about him disturbs me.

The pen is mightier than the sword...David's hard work proved that and he has reached more of his people because of it.

Right now some places are banning the knowledge of people like this hero. It is too late to stop this from getting out. At most it can delay this knowledge to some people. They will grow up and feel betrayed by the adults around them that tried to hide simple knowledge of this rather than motivational literature [that they should read too].

But if the sailors don't know the message is in the clothes, how did anyone find them?

Hey loved ya content Ted Ed. I have a request, I always wanted to know about the history of banking as even after tons of research I couldn't understand it, so I thought maybe the skilled animators at Ted ed can make an episode like the stock investment which was as amazing as this video . Thanks for reading.

Make a video about Momus, personification of mockery, or at least another Greek mythology character.
