Those who attend school in the mountain village of Kumpur, walk across the mountains of the highest situated country on earth. Nearly half of Nepals lies more than 4 000 Meters above sea level. Today it's normal that the kids go to school in the valley, but just 50 years ago the village was completely self sufficient. Only if there was a lack of salt would someone twice a year hard off to refill the stock. Today the children go to the city almost on a daily basis and are immediately forced to cross the dangerous river. A village in distress is left behind. The village community Kumpur is spread across 18 farms on the Dhap Mountain. Their families live in a very remote area.

These families have lived on their land now for thousands of years herding their life-sustaining cattle without electricity, running water or contact to the outside world. Although they constantly ask themselves if the promise of an education justifies the danger of the path involved, they send their children day after day to school.

ATTENTION to all friends, subscribers and generally awesome followers of our channels:

Fans of the MOST DANGEROUS WAYS TO SCHOOL Series have been asking for a long time how they can donate to help these kids - directly. Well, now, finally, we've found a way:
With the assistance of some awesome people who specialize in bringing aid directly to the Nepal area, we’ve set up a GoFundMe for the school kids in Nepal.
Obviously, the kids in the documentary are already grown up and making their way in the world but there are thousands following in their footsteps - all with dreams of making a better life for themselves and their families. Now we are able to help them directly.

We can't do it without you.

For all of those concerned, I was a student of Shree Adarsha higher secondary school, the situation has changed now, a suspension bridge has been made due to pressure on government from all sides, the school has got its own school bus so students need not hitchhike anymore, and Ajit has already passed SLC exam( grade 10 in Nepal). PS: I am thankful to my friend who recommended me this video.

Ajith, " if I could choose, I would rather have a bridge than become a pilot " pure seeds of greatness in this young man trading his personal dream for the benefit of the entire society. I pray he succeeds in all his life endeavours

I'm Nepali. My parents used to tell me they go to school by crossing rivers, mountains and jungle. I used to think that was a joke .
now I feel like I'm the joke

Ajeet is real hero, He not only goes to school himself but also carries other poor young kids too, How the heck he can concentrate on Study when He has 0 level strength after this agonizing journey to school, I have 4 years old daughter who never ever goes out alone, A shiver ran down my spine to see a four years old girl to go to school that far alone. Salute to these Kids...Wish I could do for them to make their life easier, :( :(

I complain about walking 5 minutes to school, this honestly breaks my heart that kids are willing to risk everything for an education.

$40, 000 to climb Mount Everest, if one person would donate their money to build a bridge rather than to satisfy their ego climbing a mountain that has been claimed thousands of times, they would be much better people for it

"They hit our hands for being late" jesus, these teachers should be attending to them, giving them a proper meal and drink even before starting class.

I am usually a silent YouTube watcher and rarely comment on any videos. I always come back to this video, when I need a motivation to push myself and every time I see this documentary, tears roll down my eyes. Currently I am commenting in this video from a lab at a prestigious university in Canada, as I am working on my data analysis on one screen and watching this video on my second screen. As a Nepali watching this video, I feel terrible for my fellow juniors, Ajit and his friends and I am so sorry that you guys had to go through this adversity daily just for the hope of bright future. It leaves me questioning, "Why is life so unfair for some of us?". Yet, we as a Nepali have this perspective towards life to win adversity with optimism. This also motivates me, reminding me that the life I have now might be someone else's dream and this pushes me to be grateful for what I have. To all the young men and women, don't lose hope and trust me as it's the only thing that's worth clinging to. May you one day reach where you want to be.

This is how our parents claim to have gone to school in their days.

The teachers are cruel & heartless, after such extremities to get to school, yet, you beat them because they're late?

It just breaks my heart at how tired the young boy looks at the end of the video. These kids honestly put in a full days work just getting to and from school,   no wonder they can't concentrate!

I was very glad to read the comment by a person who attended the school in this documentary, that he was letting us know that it's now much safer to get to school, with a suspension bridge and a school bus. This is not only safer for the students, but also the farmers and anyone else who needs to cross at this spot. While it's still a concern for their parents, I'm sure, at least they now have less to worry about as their precious children travel back and forth for their highly valued education.

“Unless someone dies, there won’t be a bridge”

I have now seen multiple comments saying they got a Rest In Peace whoever died.

These children probably learned more on their way to school than at school. Not saying it's right, but I'm sure some strong leaders came out of that bunch.

It breaks my heart how those classmates were treating them different because they didn’t live in town 😢. They had no other friends but each other☹️
