With China well and truly under his grip, Mao Zedong's CCP wrote up the Chinese Constitution in 1950 (adopted in 1954) and this would become the backbone of Chinese politics. In today's episode, Mr. Mitchell explains how the Chinese government works today based on the constitution that was instituted back in the 1950s. The Chinese Political System is remarkably different from most western political systems and it deserves careful analysis. This video will cover the Politburo, the National People's Congress, the State Council and will give an example of how Xi Jinping himself rose to power.

In this series, Mr. Mitchell takes you through the history of Modern China from the 1940s up until the present day beginning with the Chinese Civil War.

Regardless of how "into" history you'd consider yourself, this is amongst the most important educational topics in the world. As we look towards the 2020s, it seems more and more like the USA is going to be overtaken by China as the world's dominant superpower. With this being the case, we ought to understand who they are, what made them the way they are, and whether they really are the "boogeyman" of world politics. It's well worth a watch.
