Destiny is incorrect in his assumption in the way that he sees the red pill as a materialist mindset when the reality is that it's deeper than that: it's more about building yourself through personal achievement and not about materialism.

I'll cut him some slack though because personal achievement today is most commonly recognized by people's material possessions so it's easy to get confused.
