I love that the mom encouraged her daughter to go ask the person a question herself, instead of telling her not to stare and to keep quiet. Sure, the mom could’ve answered the question but her coming up and asking a stranger teaches her that it’s ok to approach people and it’s ok to ask questions if you’re curious, most people actually prefer it to just staring. Also, it most definitely puts a smile on a person’s face when a kid comes up and asks a ridiculous question.

I think that they might mean un named as in that they just didn't know his name, but in the past it was not unusual to not get a name or just be named after a number. I think that Octavia is a beautiful name, but it just means 8th in feminine form. 🙄 In some cultures today you either have to earn your name or choose it yourself. But it would not be really much 1984 if the government could not keep track of you at all times and this is why it is illegal to not give your child a name in many countries.
