RIP bill Paxton. Great actor. Great mini series of Hatfield and McCoys.

I live in Pike County Kentucky, it is thought about every spring during Hillbilly Days. A 3 day festival where fun is had about past events. Both Hatfields & McCoy's join in to relive past events. It's all for fun & raises money for Shriners helping crippled children. Been canceled last 2 years due to Covid, but hoping for next year. A nice event for families.

I am part of the McCoy family. We all have something called the rage disease a.k.a. von Hippel Lindau. We have lost many many of our family members to it. We all have it in our genetics and it looks like my youngest daughter might have it also. It causes heart disease etc. the rage we feel is not normal and we can become very irrational. I believe this had ALOT too do with this

There is alot of information about how the feud started. There was a pig and a wedding involved. I think its more important to know that Bo Mcoy started the official reconciliation. They have a yearly gathering.

I had a patient who had relatives on both sides

There wasn't really anything about the feud in this video I hadn't already heard. This isn't the "untold" truth, but the REtold truth.

I am a Hatfield on Dads side and McCoy on Moms side, and still live along the Big Sandy. It is pretty calm and peaceful, but still there are times when there is a little fussing at times, because yes, most of us have a little bit of a temper if provoked

What’s insane is that both Randall and Devil Anse outlived (well into their 80’s) all those young descendants who died as a result of THEIR feud.

It says in this documentary that a Hatfield relative was the judge at the pig trial. He was a relative, but his name was Anderson Hatfield, my great, great uncle. The judge was my 2nd great grandfather Ransom Hatfield's brother.

As a descendant of the Hatfield's I can only hope and pray that both of our families will be remembered more for ending the God Awful Fued between our two families then starting it.

Even from Australia this is a famous story. Thank you for giving us an insight

This was a political battle for economic power. It continues today between democrats and republicans.

I remember when I was in a treatment center in Alabama. I met a real McCoy and he was confirmed to be a real McCoy by the treatment center. His name is Shawn McCoy. He was about 13 at the time in about 2008/9. The center actually paid for both families and come and speak their history and they agreed that their genetics did play a huge part, and was agreed that the illness they had played the biggest part. When we were able to meet both sides of the family it was very interesting. They dont own the land they use to have, in fact they sold it off in the early 1900s, but have a massive amount of their ancestors possessions. They even have some of their old guns, but have donated most of them to museums. They talked about also what caused the freud and it wasn't just a pig and a wedding. I was happy to meet both families.

I think that the real reason that the fued started was because of hetfeild's killing the brother of the McCoys.

I didn’t know about the modern day families and their actions, it’s nice to see they stopped their clowning around on tv and have tried to make something positive out of something so destructive.

I'm a McCoy my Papaw was from Pikeville Kentucky, my great great grandfather was involved in the feud and his name and my great-grandfathers name is written in the McCoy family genealogy. We did hold family reunions with the Hatfield's, I use to go to them with my grandparents however there is a few details that were missed in this summary.

My family are from West Virginia. My grandmother was born in 1899. I used to love listening to her tell things she remembered about the Hatfields and McCoys.

It’s amazing how many versions of the story are out there in this one. Most of those that we tell come from people who heard them from their family, but… that doesn’t make them true either.

I was about 11 years old when I cleaned devil Anse Hatfield tombstone with Robert Lee Hatfield a relative of them and I lived beside of them and took care of his garden and grass back in the day and had a history class later in school and told my classmates what I had done and couldn't believe it and it was something I had never forgotten about!!???
