Most of John Carpenter’s greatest films weren’t well-received when they first came out, but critics have gradually come around to them over time. They Live is one of the finest examples of this: a lot of '80s viewers didn’t know what to make of the over-the-top alien movie that was a critique of the Reagan administration, but it built up a sizable fan base over the years.

After all, how can you not love a film that features a six-minute fight scene between Rowdy Roddy Piper and Keith David? We are here to chew bubblegum and talk about the untold truth of They Live, and we’re all out of bubblegum.
