As a spinoff of the popular neo-western "Yellowstone," "1883" had some pretty big cowboy boots to fill. Creator Taylor Sheridan may have gotten lucky with the story of the Dutton family ranch in modern time, but would audiences follow him as he spun the clock back over 100 years? As it turns out, the audience's answer was a resounding yes. Starring veteran actor Sam Elliot and country music stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, the series has proved to be a crossover hit for parent distributor Viacom. Want to know more about this throwback Western drama? This is the untold truth of "1883."

What I love about 1883 is it gives me a greater appreciation for America and blows my mind on how young our country is and how far we’ve come as a country in a short period of time.

One of the best films I've ever seen, superb acting and production, and profoundly moving. It wasn't just an action Western, it was a story about love and loss, life and death, dreams and devastation. As Elsa's final words in the film - about death - say: "It was beautiful."

I wasn't too sure if I would like this show but so far it has been phenomenal and makes me appreciate Sheridan's ability to tell a good story.

I have never been intrigued by Yellowstone so didn't know that much of it but I have loved watching 1883. It has been very well acted and "feels" real. I can't wait for the next episode as I am hooked.

Loved this series, loved the story, loved every single character ❤ I'm impressed with how enjoyable this show was to watch. From the beginning you know how it's going to end and yet you allow yourself to fall in love. You are the mom, the, grandma, the friend watching all how it came to be. You have to know how it really ends.

The series shows the grit and determination of our pioneers. The wins and loses of the daily fights of our westward expansion. It also demonstrates what Frontier Justice was and how good people get forced to do bad things to bad people for the greater good.

Listening to them carry on about all the natural obstacles they had. Knowing the support they had while filming this. I couldn't help but think, "my god, we have become so weak."

1883 is excellent, have enjoyed all of the episodes so far. Can't wait for season 2. Trying to get into Yellowstone, maybe watching 1883 will help. Sam Elliot was made for Westerns ( whether he likes it or not).

I think this is a great stand alone show and I started watching it having no idea it was connected to Yellowstone. Now I’m deep into Yellowstone. Both really good shows.

Sparky predicts 150 years from now . . . someone will make a movie about 1883's cast and crew, glamping across the badlands, devouring all the resources in every town near their path. Bless their hearts.

Despite tough standards, this show manages to bring about originality in its story telling through female narration and development of secondary characters. Love Sam Elliot’s character, too! A lot of depth in this story- like it better than Yellowstone, and I do like me some Yellowstone, especially Lloyd..

Well I'll give you the 1st REAL comment, so far i love this show, I've been a big fan of Yellowstone and was eagerly waiting for 1883 to air and it has not disappointed so far...

Taylor Sheridan must truly be a studied pupil of Louis L'Amour his tales are so evocative of the master it's hard to believe he has not been influenced by him. That is a good thing the quality comes through especially the importance of family.

I hope cast reads these comments. Elliot did more than act. He transported viewers into the depth of grief, pox, and unique perspectives that don't exist anymore. I am glad I haven't met these actors in person because if I did, I would be a crying lump of despair. That's what great acting is. Not only believable characters but believable environmental situations. When Elsa died, it took me a week to get over. Since this show, I have Google earth'd Paradise Montana and planning my own trip. Though 1883 was fictional, the place isn't. And I want to see it!
