In Lesson 8, we learn how to play basic eighth-note (quaver) time on both the hi-hat and the ride cymbal. We then start to add the crash on beat 1, before incorporating fills after 3 bars of time. Play along on your drum kit, making sure you've mastered each exercise (even if it's at a slower tempo) before moving on!

I'd like to know why does this need a rest on bass drum (exercise 3) when you can actually just take it out?
