It is called an eighth note because it represents 1/8 of a whole note, not because there are eight per measure.

Good one, I was doing a kind of clapping but guessing that the unclaping😀if you like is as you very interestingly explained... Now i got it... has answered my question, thank you. Music and maths are running together, well in my case maths is not my best friend at all so I do struggle, but I make my own and I suppose I get away with it nicely😉👍.

The cyclical counting out loud with the metronome is sufficient. Foot tapping is a bad idea for many reasons.
Examples should be at least 2 measures long. It’s unnatural for a child to stop counting and clapping on the and of two. You’re introducing syncopation too early. The rhythm needs a cadence to the downbeat.

I’m confused, I thought I was supposed to play the second note from the eight note, but here she says only play the down first note… am I missing something???😊
