Major Thrawn-Related Cameo in Tales of the Empire | Star Wars Explained

Star Wars fans may have noticed a familiar Imperial captain in the recently premiered Tales of the Empire shorts. In the second episode, Captain Gilad Pellaeon is present for Morgan Elsbeth’s presentation of the TIE Defender program and takes special interest in Elsbeth and her skills. Upon her return to Corvus, he uses the Noghri Rukh to test her capabilities, where she ultimately proves herself worthy of joining Thrawn’s fleet. Captain Pellaeon commanded the Star Destroyer Harbinger as a part of Thrawn’s Seventh Fleet, and he was first introduced into canon in the Thrawn novel, and later appeared in Star Wars Rebels as well as a member of the Imperial remnant Shadow Council in The Mandalorian Season 2. Although his role was small, it continues to tie together the many different eras and shows of Star Wars as it all culminates to Filoni’s movie.
