If you can buy one suit, what color should it be?

Antonio - I love how you jump right into the killer content in this video and bypass the intro sequence. You know I love that. It makes a statement.

I say a very dark charcoal gray suit that looks black. You could use it for formal, work, dates and nights out with a turtleneck sweater or t -shirts. My most used suit is the charcoal grey. Great video.

Before watching.... IMO a navy blue and or charcoal grey suit would be my go to first suit. My navy blue is most versatile and most used.

Yes, I have really dark hair and use a black suit the most. However, I also only use it under very formal circumstances, and every man I know (or meet) also wears a black suit under those circumstances. One thing that really makes a difference though is the color of the tie.

Black can be pulled off but it's difficult to pull off, but if you can do it, it looks stunning

This is an interesting topic since it's relevant to everyone but especially helpful to those just starting to build their wardrobe. Certainly I agree with you that a navy or dark gray is ideal, particularly the latter, which lends it self to being worn with various shoe/belt colors (black, dark brown, burgundy, cognac, etc.) more so than navy, which I still usually only wear with black shoes as a creative choice, like a twist on black tie.

What remains fascinating to me (as someone who's lived in the US his whole life) is how solid black suits seem to be the dominant suit color choice of businessmen in East Asia. I take for granted that I may be completely misunderstanding this but if that's the case, it's a remarkable contrast to here in the US, where I believe you rightly characterize a solid black suit as oddly formal (or sometimes funereal, in my opinion) for semi-formal wear for business or evening (i.e. wedding).

Ultimately it's still an individual decision based on personal preferences (perhaps what matches one's skin tone, or simply what colors one prefers to wear) but it's interesting how norms vary by location.

Another reason to not use black is because some professionals dress black suits (bodyguards, waiters, etc).

That subtle hint about Harvey Specter. :D

Antonio, I've been watching you and Aaron from the beginning and there is one question that you never address. How to secure the job interview. Techniques for writing resumes, how to dress when you apply for the job, any tips for emailing employers. We know how to dress for the interview, but are the principles the same for getting the interview?

my personal advice about first suit is basically anything that is dark but not black. something like navy, charcoal, dark green, oxblood, or dark brown. because they're formal but versatile. also looks great with your black dress shoes (if you only have one dress shoe, i bet black is the colour).

Hy Antonio. For the first time since I’ve been following you (about two months) I have to disagree with you. The first suit anyone should by, and carry to pleasure or business trips is a grey one, a bit darker than the one you’re showing.

The dark grey suit gives you a versatility that no other suit gives you. With slight changes in the shirt and the tie you use with the dark grey suit, you can dress joyful to a party or sober to a funeral or any event between those two.

And if you’re living in a country with different dressing styles due to a diversity of climates and cultures (like Colombia) you can combine your dark grey suit to fit the formal style of the Andes cities or the casual style of the Caribbean cities.

I've got 3 black tuxedos and tons of blazers and sport coats and suits, still haven't needed a black suit until, recently. It's a zebra in prarie full of horses, it's just an oddball in most common settings
I am considering adding one in as performance wear for the stage, it can fit in between black tuxedos and dark, non black suiting, but something like a navy tux may win that spot first

Antonio what about making a video all about black suits :D

Hi Antonio, I am looking to get hitched in the spring and wonder if you could cover different styles and colours, perhaps colour combos for this formal occasion?

Hey Antonio, complements on your chanel. Love the content of this episode. But just one point of criticism. Your pocketsquare is showing to much, in my humble opinion.
Love your chanel. Great content. You're not my favorite but a damn good number three!
Keep up the good work.
