This is solution for Gen2 i found on a forum
"Press 'reset' in the tool bar when you have this error and then press space as the machine resets. You have to be quick, it will then boot from the ISO image. This issue has been there for a few years now, and I'm surprised it's not fixed"

TYSM! I was racking my brain trying to figure this out myself. I never considered if it was something simple.

Where did you get that 'Windows 10 Pro.iso' file you used?

I was just "no.. another video where the solution is to re-do everything..." But no, this actually fixed it for me.

I did a vhd file (converted a physical machine) with the latest version of the conversion tool, and then I selected hardware version 2, I though that was the correct way... but noup. looks like the vhd still being created in v1. THANKS

Thank you - that helped a lot. I was using the Quick Create and trying for WinXP 32 SP3 :)

Awesome, thanks! It was the wrong generation setting for me that caused it.

I had tried using the Quick Create option, which gave me the error. Then I tried using Gen 1, which also gave me the error. Then, I did Gen 2 and it's working great! Thanks for the help. How do you know which version your iso is, though? I didn't see any obvious signs it would be one or the other.

Your video helped me resolve my problem. I always press the 'Quick Create' button, and I encounter this issue. However, when I follow your steps, my virtual machine successfully loads.
