Had this issue, your workaround didn't seem to help at first BUT I helped myself by continuously holding the key and then pressing the green reboot button with my mouse. I could see in the previewscreen that this worked but I had a black screen in my connection windows which I resolved by closing the window and connecting to the vm again. thanks
