*You can’t love someone’s mental illness away*
This is one of the hardest things to learn and one of the most painful things to accept
You can’t love someone’s mental illness away but you can love them through it and with it
And you can love them on the bad days and the good days and the Nothing days and the everything days and that’s more important really.

*7 Reasons to love someone with Depression*

1. They're stronger than most
- They're willing to continue on despite the pain.

2. It doesn't define them

- You are loving the person and they'll reciprocate it because you're with them and it's rare for them to be accepted.

3. They're more understanding

- They know the pain and are willing to help despite their own issues. They care.

4. They're more honest

- They don't have harsh motives and them being blunt doesn't equate them that they hate you. They just want you to know what it means.

5. Appreciative

- You understanding them means a lot. They don't want you to feel smothered and feel like they're a burden. Reassurance helps them too.

6. Good listeners

- They'll always listen to you despite their own shortcomings. They want you to know that it's not all about them. It's also about you. Dating is not done alone. It's a team effort.

7. Deep thinkers

- They're like existentialist philosophers. Smart in their own way and it helps you understand their perspective as they talk more about it.

*8: it gives them a reason to live*

Yes I'm commenting before I've watched the whole thing. Yes I've heard you need to love yourself before others can love you. I've heard it all, brother. Doesn't change the fact that the only time I feel like I'm worth anything, is when I'm being praised, or told that I'm (sincerely) loved.

I suffer from depression as well. It gets so bad that I won't answer my phone or go anywhere. However I go threw highs and lows with it. I know it must be hard for some to be around me but I'm grateful that they are.

One thing I've learned after dating someone with depression is you can only love them if they love themselves enough to seek help when they need it. No one should feel responsible for someone's happiness except themselves. I learned the hard way. Denial and stubbornness when it comes to mental illness can hurt relationships.
