Firstly, you're right that you shouldn't be defragging an SSD, but that's not what's happening. It's TRIMMING the drive, which is something very different. Trimming resets used areas of the drive to a blank state so they will be faster when next accessed. Trimming ONLY happens on areas of the drive that have been previously used and are now no longer used. The "wear" on your SSD when trimming is done, only occurs on these "zombie" areas. What that means is it's irrelevant if the trim is done frequently on only a few areas or infrequently on a lot of areas, the amount of life reduction on the drive will be the same.

TRIM is not defragging. TRIM does not prematurely wear out SSDs, it only marks previously deleted blocks as available again. SSDs do not defrag in Win 10 at all unless improperly detected as a HDD.

After updated to 2004 win can't connect internet through the wifi or tethering, task manager not responding, cmd not working.This update is unstable af.Rolled back to 1909 and not gonna update till 2021 february(IF I SURVIVE 2020)

My laptop finally shows "Feature update to Windows 10, version 2004" with "Download and install". I'm still not sure whether to update now or not cuz I'm still scared at the issues people are facing even now especially on a laptop.. I'm still on windows 1909 tho

Get ready for the "CRITICAL ERROR: Your Start Menu isn't working" error. This keeps happening on multiple systems. The entire start menu refuses to work and then Windows option is log of and back on and it all starts over again.

I really cant understand why did Microsoft released a version which has so many issues without prior testing it why do they want to put their users into problem. When you have paid for a legal version you shouldn't be expecting such kind of headaches

Windows 10 has hit its limit of entropy. Every update to fix known problems just ends up creating new ones.

My problem is after installing 2004 version that it causing 100% disk usage whenever tried to play video games and freezing the PC.

My guy, is it okay to update now or still hold on for more optimizations and debugging. Just from the comments said there is still ssd bugs which scares me.

Still on 1909 as 2004 and even the beta channel update to the next version have PFN_LIST_CORRUPT errors when running SiSoftware.SANDRA.

Dev Channel and 1909 work fine though.

So that will mean close to a year without proper updates on a new laptop.

I mean, reading that list of changes nothing seems to merit how "pressing" you make this sound. And the comments make it sound like they haven't read the patch notes themselves and it will magically fix any other issues.

If I can be so bold, it might be better to go over highlights, instead of what honestly comes off as fear mongering, and telling people not to update.

Why is an important fix listed under optional ?. It should be mandatory. Some people may not look under the optional choice. I know I don’t sometimes as optional updates can be irrelevant and even cause issues just loading up your OS with bloatware that’s not important. @Britec09 i can't update to that version. It dont wanna install on the standalone and via windows update i also can't cause when BITS starts. My computer freezes.
