Jess, I'm in Charlotte, NC, 8a, growing the usual for fall, spinach, lettuce, carrots, peas, Brussel sprouts, collards, turnip greens, mustard greens, garlic, onions, but, my favorite fall crop is Broccolini! So much sweeter and more tender than Broccoli! The stems are as tender and sweet as the crowns, and it grows along the sides through most of winter! I can't say enough about how delicious it is! And, more prolific than broccoli. I plant some in my raised bed and some in fabric grow bags because we love it so much that we can't have too much. I also keep a few pepper plants in the grow bags, both sweet and hot, that I just move into the garage when we get a cold night. I love this area, we can grow something all year! Love your channel and content! You are a great teacher and so genuine, willing to also share from the heart. Such a dear blessing!

I am a smidge south of you in Paris, TX (far NE Tex) and my fall and winter garden does really well, typically better than summer. Less bugs.  I have my fall garden in except for my garlic. I have planted cabbage, cauliflower, chard, kale, spinach, collard, celery, broccoli, lettuces, and walking onions in my big raised beds I cover with frost cloths.  For my spreading garden I am the crazy leaf lady who is throwing bags of leaves in my car as I drive by your house.  I layer leaves on a foot deep and love the 'no till' way of gardening.  Love your channel!

Hey Jess. I am in zone 8A here in Central Alabama. I have my brassica plants started, they will go out to the garden in two weeks. They are brussel sprouts, cabbage and broccoli. I have Zucchini and Acorn squash up and growing nicely. I planted out on 4 X 8 bed with bunching onions, spinach, Swiss chard, carrots, Black Seeded Simpson, Ruby Leaf and Butter crunch Butter head lettuces. Another bed has all three of those lettuces, plus Swiss Chard, Spinach and radishes. All of which have come up from direct seeding. I planted out Early Sun-glow corn this week. Next weekend I will direct seed, parsnips, carrots, turnips. I will direct seed in the garden Big Daddy peas the 3rd week of September and cover them and let them grow through the winter here. Our normal first frost will not come to last week of November or sometimes early December if even then. Our first frost has varied so much over the years, mostly later than earlier. Well, that was a good reminder video you put up. I do hope people go out and try to grow something. Y'all take care, stay safe when your travelling and God Bless You and Yours.

Mr. Tom

zone 9B! I planted all of my root vegetables two weeks ago. They are germinating! For the 1st time, we have tried beets and carrots and I am amazed at the germination rate. The Asian pear season is over and I'm beginning to get persimmons. Kale and cabbage is in the ground. Thank you for sharing. I am 32 miles SW of Houston.

I straddle 9a and b, so this is our second growing season. Our first frost is around the first week of December and I'm starting a garden like it's Spring just some different plants added to the mix. Summer is so hot here that gardening then is almost impossible other than okra and a few heat loving veggies. I've got corn going, tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, purple hull peas, green peas, pumpkins, several squash, chard, sweet potatoes, and still okra. Praying for a great harvest!

I'm in zone 7A middle Tennessee.  Planted Broccoli, Cauliflower and Brussel sprouts starts about a week ago.  Also have started kale and lettuce from seed which aren't ready to plant yet.  It's been in the mid 90s so I've had to cover the plants to keep them from burning.  They are just starting to put out new leaves.  Also started tomatoes from cuttings in August the plants are beautiful but the flowers drop as soon as they close I believe its because of the high temps.  Love your videos they are so informative and from the heart!  So happy I found your channel.

I'm in Ga. zone 8a and started carrots last fall. I kept them covered with mulch and plastic all winter. They survived and over wintered in the garden and started growing again in the spring. It worked so well, that I'm going to try to plant more this year.

I'm from the Netherlands, so not sure about zones. But our first frost date is november 7 and we have a pretty mild climate. This year I'm overwintering garlic, onions and broad beans. The beans are called 'aguadulce' and should survive here without cover. They give an early harvest in late-spring or early summer. The onions are perennials called 'egyptian walking onion' and 'sint jans onion'. Both give edible stalks in early spring for use as green onion. After that they form bunches of small onions to harvest through the summer and fall.
Thank you so much for all your information. It has helped me in becoming more adventurous and helped make my garden much more thought out.

I live in the south of England, my killing frost date is the 1st November. I'm growing all the brassicas, potatoes, salad, radishes (Thankyou Jess for encouraging me to grow them!) I've got peas and pumpkins still growing. Spinach, sweet potato, turnips, swede, chard, beetroot and berries! I've had my allotment for three months now and you have been such an inspiration!

Just found your channel while watching random growing videos. I live in Cabot and have never really grown much. I’m incredibly excited to have a local source of information for planting. Love the channel and root veg as well. 👍🏻
Have a great day.

I had a spinnach plant that grew in the winter, by the time the snow came it was huuuge, the leaves were like A4 paper sheets, that happened in february. And i dug under the snow to find it and make a salad, the plant was just sitting there with a lot of snow on it like it didnt mind at all. Here in Central Europe the winters arent that bad anymore.

Thanks for the info, Jess!

Great to have a video that is more specific rather than going through a lot of content regarding fall gardens.

Just starting my garden and hoping I can make it in time to sow a few things before the season ends

Cheers and thanks for the videos

9b. I have 20 tomato plants in pots, green beans, summer lettuce, bell peppers, Swiss chard, and okra. It’s been raining for days here and might have a tropical storm this weekend. I hope our plants survive.
