My girlfriend and I are total protein bar fiends. We have a spreadsheet with our taste ratings, price, protein/kcal, and so on. We would absolutely forget what we actually like otherwise, because there are so... many... bars. If I ever have a hankering for something sweet(er than fruit), they're a great way to satisfy that and still comfortably hit my macros.

One bar that I really miss is the now discontinued big-ass Maxim bar with 300 kcal and 40 grams of protein. With that high a protein content, the texture wasn't the best, but it was a great way to get the equivalent of a pretty high-protein meal in a convenient, portable package. My sadness is immeasureable.

It's much appreciated that you repeat how these aren't necessarily the healthiest options. I feel like the 'health' food industry has BSed people for a long time about this stuff, so it's important that people who are known for fitness content are honest about these products. Thank you!

As far as protein cereal goes, you should try Premier protein cereal. Theirs is like corn flakes, or the special K cereal flakes. They come in chocolate or mixed berry almond flavor, they have 20g protein for 180 cals & 5g fat. And the flavor seriously slaps. It’s the only protein cereal I’ve tried and the only one I need
