Beautiful machine. I had the 40GB, the 80GB and now I've got a 320GB Slim. The fan on the 40 got really loud for some reason. I miss being able to do a 'fan test', like you could on the older models.

I've had mine since 2006 they will carry on working as long as you look after them none of the later model compare to this.

It was must likely dust built up or the bearings of the fans. I've got the 19 blade fan rather then the 15 blade fan which most 60GB have.

i could have picked up one of these yesterday for 299 but decided to get a preowned 80gb as i already own a ps2 and the $150 difference wasnt worth it for me i guess... if i didnt have a ps2 already i probs would have picked it up

I have a 60gb, it died a couple months ago, but I got it reballed with leaded solder, yeah . now its never dying mwahahahaha >:D

If it's a PAL backwards compatible ps3 then yes .

I got this ps3 used from amazon and the chrome trim on the bottom is coming off from the left side does yours do it too??
