I had a leopard gecko for 13 years. Probably one of the best pets I've ever owned. He would get so excited every time I entered the room, loved being held, and scratched and would just chill on my shoulder for hours. I miss that little guy.

They do indeed. Sweethearts of the reptile world. ❤

If I was kept in a dollar store Tupperware container for my life I would be pretty eager to come out as well.

Love how breeders keep reptiles in abusive small enclosure because they're breeder reptiles.. breeders deserve a good living space too..

Mine loves chin rubs. He’s going on 16 years old this year!

For their size, they're pretty smart

Bearded dragons can be this way also. There's one that's a resident at my local shop and that little dude gets noticeably excited when anyone comes near. They even have a sign that reads, "I love being held. Don't be shy." 😊

Do you really keep them in those little Tupperwares or are those just for feeding time?

Life in small plastic tubs is hell. You should be ashamed.

I rescued my brother's Gecko. He let his wife keep her at the in-law's house while they were looking for a place to live. For 4 months, she was malnourished, desocialized, scared, threatened, and unhealthy. I took her in 8 months ago. She finally got around to trusting me. I saved her life. I fed her, and socialized her. She only trusts me. She runs away from anyone else. Her crawling up willingly was an actual sign that what I've been doing is working. She perks up when she hears my voice. She comes out and says hi when I walk into my room. I know she can't see this comment (for obvious reasons) but I hope she knows I'd violate the Geneva Convention for her

We kept 5 leopard geckos. Even the most skittish of then (Ms. Kinky) would "ask" to be petted and handled by climbing up her tree-hide and pushing on the screen-top ceiling of her tank!

Such wonderful critters.

I'll keep this PG and try to not make anyone uncomfortable but this is kind of funny. So I was a new mom and obvi yanno nursing and at that time you have a ton of warmth in that area and my friend has a leopard gek and every time I'd hold him, he'd go right to my chest. 😭 😂 I was like his personal heat rock! But I would agree they are one of the most affectionate breeds of geckos! ❤
