How can you call it a piece of crap. Looks like it worked really great.

Splits big pieces of wood without an effort but can not talk positive about a modern version of a tool because he just can't?
What's going on, man?
Get the one with the shorter handle and chop like a pro!

By far the best splitting axe I’ve used in 45 years . I tried them all, mauls, Chopper one, ect .

These axes work great. That being said I have split wood exclusively with an x27 for the past five years. This season I found an old 8 pound Collins split maul head and put a proper hickory handle in it and I can say for a fact that it is better than the fiskers. The steel quality if the head is better and the added weight has equalled less swings and less work. I basically just guide the it as it falls into the wood and easily delivers one hit splits just like the fiskers. The only time I have to actually put real effort I to swinging is when the wood is a really big and knot filled. There is also something nice about taking the time to put your own handle in a tool and have it perform well. I would also like to add that a nice hickory handle is just and shock absorbent as any plastic handle and if you hand the head right and know what your doing you shouldn't have any problems or break the handle.

This axe comes in three handle lengths. I guess you need a shorter one.

I was apprehensive about the fiberglass handle and I was too. I get alot more done with this than my other maul that was stolen. Hope that guys has fun swing that thing around, because I like my new fiskar lol.

Try the X25 Fiskars. 28" handle, I split many cords with my X25, but now I am older..73, and went to the X17, smaller yet and love it.

@ 3:25: "A little longer than my typical throw." Promptly throws overstrike. 😄 Good demonstration of real world use. Shows what this axe is capable of.

I own both mauls like you. Each has its good points and drawbacks. The Fiskars splitter does come with two different sized handles. The shorter Fiskars seems too short for me. The long one you have is ok for my body height. One major drawback of the Fiskars head is the extremely narrow blade which often becomes stuck in wood it does not instantly split. Then it is extremely hard to remove from that wood. I really like the yellow handle and head weight on the generic maul, but feel I lose a little power from the rubber absorbtion boot on the head. If yours is like mine it also has small shock absorbing holes drilled in the handle near the head. Both are ok, but I am still searching for the ultimate maul 👍. I used to have a really great plain old wood handled maul back in the 70's, but the handle did not last and I could not find a replacement handle. I now own several Fiskars tools and am fairly happy. The ones made in Finland were the best by far. The old Fiskars hatchets are amazing !

How do you give a review after splitting 1 single log ?

I'll take the piece of junk if you don't want it, lol.
Your Fiskars looks more like their axe, I believe they make a splitting maul that probably looks and weighs closer to your trusty yellow maul and would perform better on bigger/gnarlier stuff.
I'm with ya on the Fiskars handle length, I've never been a fan of handles made of anything other than wood but if theirs were 2-3" shorter I'd probably buy their maul.
The only axe I own is a Fiskars 17" which is more of a long handle hatchet that works excellent even on elm rounds after I make the initial breaks with a cheap 8# maul.

Needs the soft touch grip material on the handle again.

I bought one today. The steel is soooo soft I got burrs and dings on the blades edge within 5 minutes of swinging. And the performance of this Fiscars is exactly the same as any other splitting axe of same weight with same length handle. Nothing special at all, so don’t know what all the hype is about. My $30 Yardworks splitting axe does exactly the same thing
