I like they didn't focus too much on improving the graphics because they were already pretty good and instead focused on the content, which there is a lot more of this time around.

That “wood branches fly off the tree when you throw axe” is a small detail which is INSANELY HARD to do on the coding side. Hats off.

I've observed that the facial expressions have improved a lot from the last game. In some scenes the characters had quite stiff faces while in the second one it was much more expressive and alive.

This one of those unique moments where 2 games and its sequel r fantastic and timeless if 2018 was released today I would not question how old it is. Amazing work from the devs

I feel like 2018 is more on the gameplay style with the flashy and colorful attacks and everything while Ragnarok focuses on lore accurate details like Fimbulwinter majorly effecting Kratos's arsenal

honestly both are pretty amazing i feel like the 2018 one has more effects for stuff but ragnarok has more realism in a way both good tho

Movement is more fluid and the art style is somewhat more realistic in 2018. Also the snow reacts more naturally when throwing or retrieving the axe.

the only thing i can say is that the sound of punching the chest is way more satisfying in 2018

They somehow managed to make the 2022 version even better than the 2018 one. Magical gamplay experience in both games for different reasons.

Honestly I kinda miss the quick turn button instead of the button combination or assigning it to the touch pad and the clashing of the blades sounded more metallic in gow 2018 but overall I still love both

Love them both but my only nitpick with Ragnarok is I just wish they kept the same UI for your loadout and upgrades from 2018

The fighting physics in the first one just seems more fluid to me. Plus the shield reveal does also.

I honestly think the combat “*looks*” better in gow 2018, because the fire and ice elements of the blades and axe were more flashy and colorful which made combat feel more powerful

The major downside is for Blades of Chaos. In 2018, their was contrasting difference between normal blades and flamed blades. Both in looks as well as damage. Once the blades would ignite, it would be SOS for enemies. Every animation felt real fire being dropped. In Ragnarok, not only they lowered the looks of it (flames look weird), the damage difference is also not significant.
