My Black Edition 3 also wouldn't update when I dragged the "Update" file into it. So as @Sandro ABBA stated, I went into the Update folder itself and highlighted all the files and dragged them in and it worked. So if dragging the Update file doesn't work, go into that folder and drag them individually.

Congratulations on your purchase, I would highly recommend doing an updated on the gopro camera, it will allow to unlock extra feature on the hero like med, wide angle pictures, having the latest Sofware update will also help if the current version has an error issues. When update the GoPro you have to save the file to the sd card and then it will run the the software update from there. So you ask if "..it delete my file" data (videos and pictures) in the sd card.

Didi you install the Java software to your computer, if the answer is "NO" then do so cause it will not detect the GoPro you manually will have to enter the serial number and do a manually software update. let me know on what step its telling you "no detected" or if you will still need help.

Hi, I turned on my gopro hero 3 one to use it and as soon as I turned it on it went immediately Into "updating mode" now I have not done any recent updates on it, I just want to figure out how to get my gopro camera out of this updating mode so I can start filming with it again?

my gopro 3+ silver edition is another issue. it will turn on but freez immediately. i repeat many times but still freeze. i followed the instruction to hard reset but still freeze on startup. i put the sdcard which is contain firmware upgrade but still freeze on startup. plus it getting hot and hot

For some odd reason when I go to the next step when entering a new camera name, and unique password it doesn't wanna do anything once I try to go to the next step. Is their some kind of special way to name and password to use?? I'm stuck here!

The only thing I can think of the making sure that the battery was al lever TWO so make sure you charge the battery and follow step by step (no short cuts) from what I did on this video. If this still doesn't work you can always save the update to the memory card and do it manually. I hope this answers your question and thank you for watching.
