Update: Since a lot of people asked, we couldn't properly take care of her, and some other stuff happened, so we gave her away to a family who already had two guinea pigs and shes been doing amazing!!!

Me and my boyfriend got ourselves two guinea pigs pretty recently, only 3 weeks old. We were told by the lady at the pet store, who have many guinea pigs herself, to leave tha cage open and not have any hiding spots for the piggies out. This way, they will get used to you roaming around more easily, and will in general be more accepting towards your movements.

We made sure they had plenty of hay in a corner to hide in, but other than that nothing. It worked for us, after only one week they show great trust. They have hiding huts now but are not glued to them. Just thought I'd let people know, since it seems normal to give them a hiding space from the beginning, and I honestly think this will make the process of bonding with them much slower.

See, I’ve had guinea pigs for years. At one point I had 4 all at once, but 3 of them all died over the course of a year, and I had them since babies so they were rlly comfortable with me. But I had one piggie left, so I adopted 2 adult piggies and they r rlly scared of me, so thx for this I’ve been doing these things with them for the past week and now they will take food from my hand! Baby steps lmao

Trust is our every day at 5am. And then cuddling with nice sounds of her. She loves bath, she will remember you after a week and when you hear they really love you.
