For anyone wondering you NEVER show the injured person exactly where they’re injured ESPECIALLY in this scenario. Because when you’re injured (usually severely) your mind doesn’t exactly know where to clock that pain in at so therefore you don’t feel it, but as soon as you see where that injured spot is (for example this dude looking at his brain that got pole fucked) then your body could possibly go into shock depending on the severity of it there’s a word for it but idk what it is.

The best thing to do when impaled is to not move the object. If tou do remove it you must pack it with cloth or gauze and apply pressure to stop tue bleeding. REMEMBER pulling it out us a last resort.

The slightest movement can vibrate the tissue and allow hemorrhaging which means constanst and fast bkeeding so it would of bled to death or become vrain desd if he bonlynced and stuck the nerve. The brain is the main central system with a metal rod in your brain basically you lost your functions getting it out isnt always exactly as easy an simple as you would expect

Fun fact; I think this actually may be based on a true event. A man around the 90s or eaely 2000s drove into a light post, and it impaled him. He went on to survive just fine. There was also a case long ago where a man was impaled through the head with a metal spike and survived. It's amazing how the human body can get through anything God willing.

A metal bar pierced his head yet he was able to remain conscious and aware of his surroundings. Gage recovered in a few months, however, his personality has altered drastically. Although his memory, cognition and strength remained the same, his once gentle personality slowly degraded. It is told that he became a man of bad and rude ways, disrespectful to colleagues, and unable to accept advice. The injury has led to the destruction of much of his left frontal lobe which is thought to be the cause of the change in the personality.
Gage is one of the most famous patients in the field of cognitive neuroscience and his legacy is, as one can see, still alive and well.

If I remember correctly, this episode was actually loosely based off of a true story. The victim wasn’t a EMT but they did survive, however due to the nature of the accident, the impalement of the brain caused a massive change in personality of the victim.
