3 DAYS & NIGHTS BACKPACKING YOSEMITE | glacier point to half dome with a first time backpacker

Join me on my first time visiting Yosemite as I backpack with my friend from Glacier Point to Half Dome!

I took my friend on her first ever backpacking trip and she was an incredible trooper. We hiked a total of 40 miles with around 7,500 feet of elevation gain over the course of 3 days and 3 nights.

This backpacking route through Yosemite National Park took us from Glacier Point, through the Panorama Trail, Illilouette Creek, the Mist Trail, Little Yosemite Creek, to the summit of Half Dome, and back again.

If you want to see all that Yosemite has to offer, we highly recommend backpacking through the wilderness. While driving out through the other side of the park, we were already planning our next trip to see different areas.

Great video! So informative! My friends and I are planning to do a backpacking trip from Glacier Point to Happy Isles (including Half Dome trail) this summer and this video was really the most helpful that I could find! Just have a quick question about the LYV campground: do rangers stamp or make any notes on your permit when they checked your permit on the LYV campground? Or you just had that permit untouched until the end? How do they know where you went from? Have you been checked by the rangers for the permit on both of your campgrounds overall?

Question(s) 🙋‍♂️, if you started at Glacier Point and hike to Half Dome, did you have to hike back to Glacier Point since you left your car there or did y’all take 2 cars? I’ve been doing my research but apparently I suck at it lol. Wilderness Permits? Thanks! If you can a step by step video that’ll be fantastic! Anyways, great video! Loving the Vibe 😁😁

How did you end up on the mist trail? Did you turn left when you hit the JMT? Wouldn't that be the long way? I would think the short way is a right turn up to Nevada Falls. Did you just really want to see the mist trail? It only took once for me to never want to hike the mist trail again. Brutal.

"I think we did 2 or 3 miles" "...we did 1.3 miles" LOL I feel ya, when it's super hot (especially humid) it feels like you've hiked 3x further than you have!
