Modern-day Somalia was among the first places on the continent to embrace Islam. The earliest mention of Islam in the country came shortly after the first Hijra (migration) in the port city of Zeila, Somaliland. The city hosts Masjid al-Qiblatayn which is the oldest mosque in Somalia, the third oldest in Africa. The Hijrah to East Africa took place before the Hijrah to Madinah, and due to this, the Muslims in East Africa had already established their places of worship. As the original Qiblah was Masjid-Al-Aqsa, the Muslims in East Africa were praying facing in the direction of Jerusalem. However, they changed their direction once the news reached them about the Qiblah being changed to the Ka’aba in Makkah.

I worked for a subcompany for amazon with some somali brothers, there were 3 of em. Never in my life have i seen better people, funny, respectful, caring and helping each other. One of em were the fastest of our whole team (~30 ppl), and every single day, he never went home without helping us, so we would finish a little earlier. 8 ways earn even good deeds
Even after your death.

1. Give a copy of the Qur'an to someone. Every time they read from it, you gain.

2. Donate a wheelchair to a hospital. Each time a sick person uses it, you gain.

3. Teach someone to recite a Dua.

4. Sharing islimic content.

5. Participate in building a Mosque.

6. Place a water cooler/ well in a public place.

7. Plant a tree. You gain whenever a person or animal sits in its shade or eats from it.

8. And the easiest of all, share this message with people. Even if one
person applies any of the above,
you gain.

I am a Somali who was born and bred in Somalia 🇸🇴. Foreigners say Somalia is not 100% Muslim but is false. They are including the Somali diaspora apostates who disbelieved in the the countries of the Kufar. No Somali in Somalia claims to be a non-Muslim openly, and only Allah knows what in their hearts. We judge them for what is visible and we hear.
On the other hand, the theory that Islam reached in our country in the lifetime of the Prophet is stronger in evidence than the other theories.
Islam is both our religion and culture. Although we were also in the dark history of Muslims which started in last 100 years, we have hope that Islam is going to be governing both the politicians and all communities inshaa Allah.

Somalis believed in monotheistic faith before Islam and they believed God of the Sky called "Waaq", or God of the Rain because they were a pastoralist society. Alhamdullilah until now they Believe in one God Allah the Creator of the universe, Arahman and Arahim.

I’m sorry Waaq was not a polytheistic religion. It was monotheistic hence why it was easy for Somalis to adopt Islam. ☪️
