The Riggory of Drag Race UK 2

NOTE: Saying Lawrence got dragged to the end was messy and I don’t actually believe that. I should have just said Ellie instead of lumping them together. My apologies! Remember I’m a stupid American who think we know everything when we really don’t ♥️

Remember, this is a reality show, and the producers are just trying to make the most interesting stories that they can. No hate to the queens, producers, or Ru (except for the fracking)

Let me know in the comments below what you think was the biggest example of riggory in UK2!

So Bimini made it to the end with no storyline ....just pure talent

When Michelle said “This doesn’t read Bowie to me” I about lost it, out of everyone aside from Astina, Joe’s Bowie was the most obvious reference to their icon

I always felt so bad when they would be like “Tayce you did so much better than we thought” and then would throw her in the bottom. The mistreatment of Tayce smh

Bimini said that all of her runway looks after the covid break were the looks she brought originally, so that's even more impressive.

Cherry did have a storyline though...but it’s outside of drag. She comes from a completely different background and is a NHS nurse - that would’ve been a great storyline to put into drag race but idk why they didn’t :( justice for cherry, honestly

I actually think they didn't mean for Joe to go home first. They wanted to scare the contestants by putting him in the bottom 2 (no one is safe), but they didn't anticipate Bimini would do such a good job on that song. That's a very campy, Joe Black show kind of song and Bimini pulled out every trick to stay.

To me (I'm Canadian and have loved on the UK and my Dad is from there) this season really showed the problems with Ru and Michelle judging the UK competition. The Drag culture is different, the culture in general is different and it's very very obvious that they just don't get it.

Awhora was one of the best contestants on this show. Did not screw up one challenge until the one she went home on. She deserved to be in the final three.

"I don´t know why they decided to drag Ellie in the competition"

The producers literally lost one of their major storylines with Veronica and had to rely on the Scotland vs London storyline since it was obvious the London queens and Lawrence would go far since Sister Sister was basically buying time

Tia kofi for all stars
She just needed better runways and she could slay. She’s funny, smart, witty, and beautiful

The Scottish representation is important because a lot of UK representation is England-centric, specifically South England. Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are almost always pushed aside despite being just as involved in the UK as England

People seem to forget that alongside Bimini, Lawrence was the most consistent queen throughout the series. In all but like 3 episodes when Lawrence didn't win, she was in the second place spot with someone else (mainly Bimini) narrowly edging them out for the win

I think Lawrence probably won because of the prize being a WOW show instead of money. He’s much more suited to that kind of thing than Bimini, and as you said, Bimini is doing very well for themselves with their brand deals and modeling. If the prize was $100k like it was for the US, I bet Bimini would have won.

Pretty sure that Ellie Diamond got dragged to the finish bc in Ru’s mind she legitimises his show bc she presents the American style of drag that RuPaul promotes and perpetuates which is a/the reason Ellie was saved

I think the reason why Ellie Diamond was kept this long had to do with her mug. They said numerous times that it is so unique and even Raven said that it is nothing she saw before. I bet they hoped that the way she did her makeup would become mainstream in a way Trixie, Kim Chi and Raven did

This season was the pinnacle of the riggory, but yet it is probably in my top 3 favourite seasons in drag race history. I cannot express how much fun i had, how many times i was confused, how many times i laughed my a.s off. Le gen da ry. And the queens themselves...god. it was fantastic

Joe literally just got eliminated for the gag and the stereotype that the old kween that isn’t suited to drag race!!

I always laugh when people say they were shocked that Lawrence won. He was Ru's favourite from the start.

The Scottish Drag thing is very very important because it’s a whole country that wasn’t represented in the season despite calling it drag race UK. The dominance of English queens is pretty annoying when you’re scottish if you’re going to call it UK Drag Race... then please have a mix of queens. Otherwise you could just call it Drag Race England

Cherry was robbed. Michelle pointed out how she looked unsure of herself during the Rusical when it was literally part of her act. Ellie messed up her lines in the performance but was saved and Cherry was thrown into the bottom for literally no reason. She's so talented and kind, it was so upsetting to see her get eliminated when she shouldn't have been in the bottom in the first place. Her runyways for the other categories were INSANE and would've knocked all the other girls out of the park. Regardless of how talented you're, if you aren't giving production anything to work with storyline-wise, you're disposable. I get that it's a reality show at the end of the day, but it's so frustrating to see amazing artists get pushed aside because they're not giving us drama or some overproduced character arc.
