So, if my friend hasn't defeated the boss but I have, he can summon me to his world but I can't summon him to mine. If there is no boss in the area, you can't summon? The multiplayer in this game is really confusing and odd. On top of that I constantly get the connection error when joining my friends world and immediately get booted out.

Short answer to how to play coop on elden ring is it’s easier to grind for the materials needed to summon but it’s still the same tedious bullshit. Especially in a “open world” game because the devs didn’t want to implement anything new to the multiplayer since the first dark souls. Seriously played hours with my friends playing and it was such a hassle having to kick and invite the moment we beat a boss or wall into a wall exploring. Really takes half of the fun and immersion and it is really a huge let down to a almost perfect game.

I have summoned 2 of my friends, we are now 3 players including myself, the host - I can't summon a 3rd player - even though the game clearly states "4 player co-op". And no an invader shouldn't count, that is not "co-op" that is "PvP" - did they lie or what?
