Imagine Elden Ring with proper co-op.. you and another person can play the game together start to finish, both earning runes and items and entering boss fights and tackling puzzles. Instead we get this weird outdated gimmicky system.

One of the weakest part about Elden Rings is this convoluted coop system. They purposely made it super difficult to do multi-player to maintain the spirit of a Souls game which might or might not have been the right decision.

I really don't understand how hardcore souls players are mad if people don't like co op being so complicated.
Elden ring is a new experience with open world and stuff. Definetly feels like the next evolution in souls games. With so much interest and new players, this would have been perfect time to make co op easier and more fun.
I would love to play with my friends and get them in to souls games.

For sure they need to change this, have a thing where players can join eachother without this sending back to world crap and also level up and play the entire thing together as well as earn gear, and if you want to pvp you can have a setting that blocks invaders while you and your buddy play together.

Me and my roommate are having troubles trying to co-op. We did everything in this video, both have over 330mps of speed, same internet, summon pools activated and we can't see each other signs anywhere. Very frustrating.

You're right for friends only. You're wrong if you're saying this is the only way to play multi-player.
If you want to play coop so they can come help you kill bosses with you, you can just use the remedy and click on the gold names near those coop statue outside of dungeons and places. You can also play coop with random players without tackling dungeons just use a remedy while exploring and click on a name that someone have left out in the world but you will still need to he near a coop statue. You only need password if you want your game to be private and if you want your friends to find your game easily

The idea is pretty neat. However, if it was simpler the online community would be so much bigger. I’d love to be able to get into a lobby fully of random players that I can play with, learn with, etc… kinda sucks that they did it this way.

Bought the game days ago after I saw someone stream it and haven't played any other games since. The game as a whole is fun, but co-op has been a blast, especially when I have two other friends to play this game with. I'm still in Lucaria and haven't bothered with the main questline at all. Simply messing around with my friends in the swamp, getting invaded and killing invaders. I realized that this kind of co-op is super dated though, more dated than Lost Planet 2(even they could have 3 friend slots). fromsoftware should really think about expanding the boundaries of multiplayer and making co-op more engraved into the story mode. I get that would be a hell of a lot of work and costly on the servers, yet Elden Ring has been 10/10 for me and my friends.
