Another short about one of my favorite mechanisms :)

The pointer is driven by the main gear, when the worm gear drives the main gear, the potter spins one way. The secondary gear turns the opposite direction to the main gear, so when the worm gear turns the opposite direction it preferentially climbs both gears until it is only couple to the secondary gear, and drives it, which in turn drives the main gear. So the secondary gear is a double inversion.

This is how I made a two speed gearbox. Forward is forward. Reverse is forward but faster.

A worm gear will always turn a spur gear, but the inverse will not turn.

You are spinning the other direction and putting it to the other side

Worm gear moves to other gear, there is 1:-1 ratio so it moving backwards on -1 gear is -1 * -1 = 1 but 1*1 also equals one

It is because since the 2 gears spin in different tirections and the spinny part goes in 2 different directions, it becomes opposite and thinking about how my math teacher did not fail me, 2 negatives make a positive. And so birth sides are positive for that reaskn

When the motor flips direction, the worm tooth whilst moving sides attempts to spin both gears the same way, causing neither to spin and it to move

Well it's simple really. The worm gear drives one gear, which turns counterclockwise, then when it slides along the axle it drives the second gear, which makes the first gear rotate counterclockwise 😁 A+

The wormgear moves to the 2nd 8 Thoth gear same for the other side. If the wormgear moves to a another gear and the 2 gears are conected, will the rotation be the same:

This might be cool to build a two speed transmission but would get rid of reverse

Does the wormgear prefer to ‘travel’ instead of driving the orher geara because of friction?
Like that it choses the path with the least resistance, which is traveling, but when hitting the wall, it would then be driving the gears

The two small gears are touching so they spin opposite directions

So when you reverse the motor, does the spiral thing goes down and then spins that thing?

I have not seen many mechanisms that make use of the sliding property of the snail gear.

A gear is added when turning in the other direction thus the turning direction of the output stays the same.

Why do I even explain how this works 😂
