I really dig that blaster nozzle Dan!! In zone 8b, my aphids are trailing a few weeks behind, and I just saw my first few on a mess of greens I cut the night before last. They always seem to prefer the kale over broadleaf mustard or collards.

great tip with the squirt bottle. you could try putting some chili and garlic in the water. bugs hate the stuff, and its 100% natural

You may consider planting Vetch close by as ladybugs enjoy living in their shelter and Coriander plants also help to repel them among others.

Wish I can "blast" those little intruders however, we are still facing water restrictions in my city due to the drought (darn city is monitoring water usage and the times we use it) so got no other choice than to purchase the organic sprays rather than face fines.
