I started watching this thinking of my children but realized this was what I needed to see. This is the text, with a link to this video, that I sent to my husband and children.

This was a fantastic video for every single one of us. I watched it because I follow Chris Stefanick who is a great Catholic speaker. But this episode is for humanity, not Catholic theology. I thought I would watch this seeing how it was causing too much for others. I use my iPhone for faith, connection, devotions, and it made me believe I wasn’t addicted. I am addicted to constantly checking my phone and using it for everything. Very eye opening to when my anxiety skyrocketed… when I got my first smartphone. Having access to internet is not bad. Social media apps have definitely hurt our society as a whole… and I begin with me.
Please watch and listen when you have 36 minutes. It’s not about pushing the faith, in about regaining our peace and true human connection.

A library humming with intensely focused minds

A classroom full of students staring at their screens

Riding in an elevator

Deafness in a hearing world

These are sounds of silent concentration

lacking human connection



The hushed awe of parents gazing at their newborn

Still and speechless prayer and adoration of our creator

Sitting at the edge of the lake looking up at majestic mountains

or hiding in the tree stand for the hunt

experiencing a true sense of peace

This is silence full of joy



Grieving the loss of a loved one

Waiting in the waiting room and wondering ...

Two people with stone cold hearts refusing to connect

This is silence full of emotion

deep in thought





The sounds of silence are

moments when the world stands still

When we let go of the busy buzz of our lives

With a jolt of pain or a quiet whisper to the heart

We experience silence

bringing piercing heartache, loneliness, and isolation

Or peace and tranquility



Breaking through the moment

as the world rushes by

Our inner thoughts brought to our attention.
