making Juneteenth a National US Federal Holiday is no small feat or ordinary thing. I honestly cannot believe it has actually happen! its like the 1969 moon landing!

Martin Luther King Jr. Day always seemed too depressing. Maybe Juneteenth will strike a different cord with the American people by commemorating not the untimely death of a man, but the achievement of all people to escape bondage, and also the achievement in aiding those that cannot escape it alone. Ironic, because it is untimely that Juneteenth was made a holiday long after Martin Luther King Jr. Day, when it really should have been the other way around.

The first timer I heard about Juneteenth was in a skit on the Chapelle's Show. I'm glad that all of us are celebrating it now! Now for someone to invite me to their barbecue. I would invite people to mine if I didn't live in an apartment where you can't have a grill.

I think we could use more holidays to illustrate history. For example how about Native memorial day on December 29th. (The massacre at Wounded Knee) or July 7th. (The day The Indian Removal Act was signed)

I'm glad this became a Federal holiday especially when some states have decided to ban CRT. There is no way they can worm their way out of explaining the holiday without bringing up slavery. Also, if they don't want to explain it then kids will definitely look it up for themselves and discover the truth.
