I agree with the Germans here, that bread is only good for making toast. So much so that I immediately freeze it after buying as it is my backup when the good bread is over

We also have a german Name for it "Weißbrot".
But this rather a special kind of bread and not the regular you would expect.

The problem is that americans often think that Weißbrot is comparable to normal bread which is not the case...

The correct word in German is "Tostbrot" which literally translates to "Bread which is inedible unless you toast it".
