What do you call this toast? My coworker calls it German Toast and I call it Childhood Toast

As a German I have to say I never saw that.... x.x We have something mildly similar called Arme Ritter which is Toast soaked in scrambled up eggs and then you fry it but I doubt that thats even a German thing

This is a pretty common dish that has a lot of different names. It also goes by egg in the basket, egg in the hole, and toad in the hole

Basically during the first world war germany needed food for their soldiers which was easy to make and was cheap enough to be mass fed, they started giving out the soldiers a couple of packs of bread and eggs and a few jars of jam which the soldiers found time consuming to cook and started putting all of the ingredients together and eventually making this dish that you cooked today, I made all this up and im not sorry for wasting ur time.
